Is SU in Knight’s Big Three?

Slam Online

Posted: Ted Conroy

The date is set: The 2010 SU recruiting class will be nailed down one way or another on Wednesday at 4p, when Brandon Knight will make his decision live on ESPNU.

It’s been a long process, but not an irregular one for the highest profile recruit in the country. Josh Selby still hasn’t announced his decision, although it’s believed Kansas and UConn are up there, along with Kentucky.
So what are the chances Knight wears Orange?
He still has UConn on his list, on paper at least. The Fizz thinks that ship has sailed. Rumors out of Storrs is the Husky players grumbled most of last season about Calhoun-Bot 3000’s tyrannous tactics. Can’t see that not effecting Knight’s
recruitment and decision.
According to Adam Kuperstein from NBC-6 in Miami, he’s pretty sure that Knight is going to bounce from his homestate, eliminating those hoping for the hometown discount with the Gators.
Listen to the newest FizzCast with NBC-6’s Kuperstein on Knight’s decision here:
That leaves Kansas, Kentucky, and Syracuse as landing points for the star guard.

A lot of this could end up smelling like the Tobias Harris decision from months back.
If you followed the chain of events, Harris’ last trip to Tennessee ended up being a chess move, pushing Jayvaughn Pinkston’s decision back and taking him out of the Volunteer picture.
‘Cuse fans are in a tough spot. Selby isn’t announcing until the Jordan Brand Classic. Knight will move first. If it had been flipped around, Selby’s decision could have had an influence on Knight’s.

Say, for example, Selby landed with Kansas or Kentucky. It would have eliminated a school from Knight’s list because they play the same position, and increased the odds of Knight choosing SU.
However, Selby is announcing after Knight, and Josh doesn’t have the Orange on his radar anymore. It’s Knight or bust for the ‘Cuse.

As the Fizz told you over the weekend, he was talking about potentially taking a visit to the 315 before things are said and done. Although, squeezing in a flight to Hancock before Wednesday seems farfetched.
The good news is we now have a date the B-Knight Sweepstakes will end. The buzz seems to be changing by the day, so stay tuned to the Fizz. We’re all over this.
