Joseph's primary responsibility was to double down on Sullinger, which he did. Smith got open because Sullinger did a great job of quickly kicking back out. It's then on the guards to get over, just like it is when they trap in the short corner. That is until Joseph has time recover while rotation rules are in effect on the weak side. The goal is that eventually the zone retakes it's 2-3 shape, but it's scramble mode until then. Sullinger kicked out so well and so quickly that the guards couldn't get down and Smith had enough time to hit the shots. He was also off the 3 point line making it harder because there is more space. Joseph got pulled early in the second for a weak drive. He went back in and attacked. Defensively he was good. Sometimes there's just good offense which is what Sullinger and Smith played in the second half. They hit shots. That's basketball. Hope that qualifies for "knowing a thing about basketball" for ya. There are parts of his game he still needs to work on. However, none of this matters when the needs of one's family come into play. I hope Dion returns for his junior year, but the young man's concerns for his family will outweigh anyone's opinion. Rightfully, so. He is an elite rim protector with his ability to block/change shots and to take charges. He changed games on that end and that loss can't be understated even with as well as Rak and Baye played. I honestly don't think Fab is that good yet (as in 'legitimate chance to do something in the NBA good'). He's just an incredibly important piece of this team's D by standing underneath and making teams think twice about driving the lane, not to mention slapping down anyone who's brave enough to actually do it. I was impressed with the way this team stepped up in tournament play. I don't like the way they lost, but I do like the way they played. They fought hard even though nothing was going their way.
