3 For The Road: Estime’s Coach, QB Wilson & John Miller Talk NSD with Fizz

Delray Beach (FL) wide receiver Brisly Estime was the final member of the 2013 class to officially sign with the Orange. And he’s the perfect representation of how Scott Shafer and Co. pieced the class together.

He wasn‚Äôt even on the radar for SU as of early January, but has tremendous speed and athleticism. This class didn’t follow the New York‚Äôs College Team mantra. There are only two players from the Empire State in Shafer‚Äôs inaugural class, but four from Florida.

There’s much more talent to be found down south. Here’s what his high school coach Chris Bean says Estime brings to the table.

“Just explosiveness. He brings a dynamic to the game that coaches rarely have. And that’s a guy that can touch the football and take it to the house at any time.”

Estime’s 40-yard dash time is listed at 4.4 seconds on Scout, but it’s rumored to be even faster than that now, possibly down close to 4.2. Bean expects him to be used early in his career on special teams, even if not at receiver. On the Carrier Dome turf, you can watch out for some explosive plays from the 5-9, 185-pound Estime.

He dealt with the coaching change, he became familiar with a staff, and now East Pennsboro (PA) Austin Wilson is excited to be taking his talents up to the Hill.

“I’m pumped. It’s been a lifelong dream of mine to sign on National Letter of Intent Day. I’m part of a big time program now, and I’m excited to be leading the Orange into the ACC.”

And he’ll certainly have the chance. Not a single QB on the roster in 2013 has any starting experience, and Wilson is ready for a little quarterback competition this summer.

“It’s going to very fun and exciting to competing with [Mitch Kimble] and the QB’s. It’s going to be fun times this season for whoever gets the starting job, everybody is going to be gunning for it, but I think everyone has the same opportunity.”

Wilson has great fundamentals in the pocket and comes in with size, standing at 6’3”, 210 lbs. He’ll be battling with fellow freshman Mitch Kimble, and veterans Terrell Hunt, Johnny Kinder and Charley Loeb.

LA Harbor Community College OL John Miller signed with Syracuse back in January. The 6’3” 317 lb. heavyweight admitted he was nervous back when he signed his LOI. He, along with the other new OL additions, can’t wait to get to work for Shafer.

“He expressed he’s happy I was able to come and get out here early to get out and compete. We are still into off-season workouts but it’s exciting.”

John is very versatile along the offensive line. He played both guard and center at LA Harbor and in high school. He knew multiple positions would give him more shots to play. He hopes to bring his ability and tools to the ACC next season

“It gives a great university the opportunity to play on new grounds. I feel like we have a lot of talent and I don’t think anybody will push us around. We are not going to be a pushover.”
