Syracuse Hits .500 in Chicago: Spearman Chooses Iowa, Moore Goes Orange

SU went one for two on the Chicago commits, who were both part of the final day’s Syracuse 7.¬†Reggie Spearman, OLB,¬†Simeon Vocational HS had it down to Syracuse, Iowa and Minnsota. The pass rusher took a flare for the dramatic and put on an SU hat before ripping it off and committing to the Hawkeyes.

He’s¬†the 15th¬†best pass rusher in the state of Illinois, and¬†took a visit to SU over the weekend. The Orange already have three LBs committed to this class. He had said he wanted to play with his teammate Kendall Moore, telling the Chicago Tribune¬†‚ÄúIt would be big playing with one of my best friends. To go to the same school so we could play ball together again would be amazing. That was a big thing, even with Illinois when we both had Illinois, but that didn‚Äôt work out.‚Äù¬†

Instead, Kendall Moore, OT, Simeon Vocational HS did choose SU. The offensive lineman committed to Western Michigan a couple of weeks ago, but said the official to SU over the weekend made a big impact. Moore is ranked a top 20 prospect in the state of Illinois. The Orange adds more depth on the line, but did just get a commitment from monster Alexander Hayes.

The move by Spearman did not make some SU commits happy. Isaiah Johnson tweeted “I got no rap for spearman, rippin the hat off is disrespectful” and “spearman whoever he is, better watch himself playin cure like that for real.”¬†Syracuse is now down to five more decisions from the Syracuse 7. Looks like Brisly Estime is definitely signing with the Orange, and Stacy Coley will stay in his home state of Florida.
