FizzCast: D.A. Talks With Brandon Triche After Sweet 16 Win over Indiana

WIBX 950

Just before the Big East tourney, The Fizz penned a piece encouraging Orange Nation to ignore the critics. There were a few reasons to believe in Syracuse despite the uninspiring finish to the regular season.

One of those was the prospect of getting the mojo back at Madison Square Garden. Brandon Triche and co. found a new life in NYC, and have carried that into the NCAA’s where the Orange sits one win away from Jim Boeheim’s fourth Final Four.

Triche joined D.A. on CBS Sports Radio the night of the win. D.A.’s show can be heard on The Score 1260 in Syracuse every weeknight.

Is Triche’s heightened play because he’s motivated to leave a legacy at SU?

“Yeah. It’s all about winning. We came together as a team, and personally I wanted to play well.”¬†

How important was winning a few games and playing well at MSG when the regular season ended so frustratingly?

“That’s the main thing we wanted to do. We wanted to get our swagger back. We lost it midway through February. Defensively we were pretty good, but offensively we had to get it going.”¬†

What’s the biggest difference in the Orange right now versus the final few games of the regular season?

“We’re very confident. Our focus is so high now. Plus with the coaching staff being on us. They’re awesome. They just want us to achieve.”¬†

The focus is high, the confidence is soaring. Syracuse takes on Marquette for a trip to the Final Four.
