Who’s In And Who’s Out In SU’s 2016 Recruiting Class?

A recruiting shakeup is in the works with Dino Babers.

Nothing is official in the world of college football recruiting until the first Wednesday in February. With Dino Babers replacing Scott Shafer as Syracuse’s football coach there was always going to be a bit of a shake up in the Orange’s 2016 recruiting class.

So far the two biggest changes are that safety Will Harper and hybrid running back Darius Stubbs have decommitted.

This puts Syracuse’s 2016 class down to 14 members after the Orange accepted a commitment from Wisconsin offensive lineman Airon Servais Tuesday.

Look for that number to fluctuate even more in the coming weeks. As of right now Babers and company have reached out to only seven players in SU’s 2016 recruiting class according to the Post Standard and Daily Orange. They are Scoop Bradshaw, Noel Brouse, Rex Culpepper, Cam DeGeorge, Sam Heckel, Jamal Holloway and Moe Neal.

Some recruits who committed to Shafer’s Syracuse team are completely in the dark about their status. One of those players is New Jersey linebacker Dymelle Parker.

While Parker’s high school teammate Jamal Holloway takes an official visit to Syracuse this weekend, Parker is still waiting to hear from Babers.

“I feel as though they’re not interested…I’m thinking about giving it another week.”

College football recruiting can be harsh.

While some current Syracuse commits try to figure out where they stand, Babers’ new staff is hitting the recruiting trail hard going after a new group of high school kids.

2016 Illinois commits Joshua Black, a defensive end, and Kentrail Moran, a running back, received in home visits from Syracuse coaches this week.

2016 Florida defensive end Josh Uche also met with Syracuse coaches in the last few days. In addition to SU, he has offers from Auburn, Alabama, and Florida.

Finally, 2016 UVA commit Kenneth Ruff, a linebacker, is visiting the Hill this week with a bunch of the 2016 SU commits that Babers has reached out to. That is according to Scout.com.
