Monday Recruiting: BJ Daniels Leads Palm Bay to Victory, Talks Commitment

The last two weeks have treated Syracuse running back commit B.J. Daniels very well. He pledged to SU on Halloween and then led Palm Bay (FL) to a 49-10 playoff victory over Eustis on Friday.

Daniels rushed 145 yards on 19 carries and scored three touchdowns in the victory.

Last week the three-star running back came on Fizz Radio to discuss his high school season as well as his commitment.

While Palm Bay is undefeated at 10-0, they will have a tough run to the state championship, according to Daniels.

“There’s a lot of good teams in Class 5A,” the Florida native said. “I think we’ve got five rounds before we even reach states. We’re the first seed and up next we’ve got last year’s state champion Bishop Moore.”

After the high school talk, the conversation flipped to Syracuse. Despite never visiting SU, Daniels seemed sold on the school because of his multiple visits to New York.

“My whole life New York has been a second home to me,” Daniels said. “My mom was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. I’ve got a lot of family up there… Syracuse is kind of a big deal in my family. It’s definitely a great university and a great place to further my education.”

Daniels plans to visit Syracuse in January after high school football ends. Looking way into the future, he even has an idea about a potential roommate.

“I haven’t talked with Markenzy [Pierre] at all yet, but we’ll definitely be in touch,” Daniels said. “I could see us being roommates or something, us coming from the same area. We’re both having great seasons and I look forward to working with him.”

Syracuse ranks 118th in Division I in rushing yards per game. Daniels and Pierre will try and improve those numbers when they arrive on The Hill. Perhaps this is the beginning of a beautiful partnership.
