In the latest Fresh FizzCast, Hoffman says that the spotlight stays on the major recruits Syracuse has failed to land because it’s important for the Orange to haul in at least a couple four-stars per class.

“People ask all the time, ‘Why are you guys still talking about Ishaq? Why are you guys still talking about David Perkins? Why are you guys still talking about Chad Kelly? We get it, Syracuse didn’t get them.’ Well those are the recruits that Syracuse needs to get.”

ESPN’s Steve Bunin hopped aboard the FizzCast as the conversation turned to crime in sports. The SU alum, who contributes to the Outside the Lines, cautions people not to jump to conclusions with Fab Melo.

“You can’t necessarily suspend Fab Melo when he may have in fact done nothing wrong. You have to wait until the authorities figure it out.”

Bunin also weighs in on why crime is seemingly more prevalent among athletes than in the past.

Towards the end of the FizzCast, we break down Syracuse basketball’s chances to land Georgia Tech transfer Brian Oliver. I believe that if the sharpshooter comes to SU, he’ll diversify the Orange’s offense.

“Syracuse doesn’t have too many guys that you really think of as knock-down shooters. That’s exactly what Oliver is. You bring in him along with Trevor Cooney, and all of a sudden you can put two guys out on the floor that can really space it out. That’s really something that’s been missing for the most part for Syracuse.”
