Does North Carolina Deserve a 1-seed in the NCAA Tournament?

We're through two games here on quarterfinal Thursday of the ACC tournament

Hello everyone, I'm Adam Gatkin and welcome into Capital One Arena. In game one, North Carolina got the win over Florida State

Game two, it was Pittsburgh who came out victorious against Wake Forest

Let's start off with that North Carolina game. I think that this UNC team really proved that it is the best team in the ACC and one of

the best teams in the country today. Absolutely deserving of a number one seed in the NCAA tournament

It's crazy to say that the Orange beat them less than a month ago, but this UNC team is

that good and I think that they really are the perfectly built team in today's era of

college basketball because you've got two guys who are really the heart and soul of

that program. Two guys who have been around since the start in Armando Bacot and R.J. Davis

They are the two culture guys for UNC. Back in that final four run with the first year of Hubert Davis, they were both big players

and they're big players again today. Add on to that Elliot Cadeau, the guy who Adam Weitzman offered a million dollars to

come play in Syracuse a couple years ago. Their star freshman, a real energy guy

He was diving all over the floor and he made a big impact in that game for UNC

And on top of that, you have the two transfers. You got Harrison Ingram and Cormac Ryan, both coming in from Notre Dame and Stanford

And having guys like that, having those transfers join a true freshman star and two guys who

are veterans, I really think is the perfect makeup for a college basketball team in today's era

And this UNC team is continuing to prove time and time again that it is that good

With the blowout win today over Florida State in game two, Pittsburgh wins

And that was a little bit close at the end. Pitt got about a 19 point lead with 13 minutes to go

Wake Forest battled back, made it close with just a couple minutes left. But then right after that, Pitt is able to hold on

And this is a Panthers team that probably secured a spot in the NCAA tournament with

that victory. For Wake Forest though, in kind of a similar spot as Syracuse, if not even a little bit

higher up on the totem pole for bubble teams, most likely knocked out of the conversation

for the NCAA tournament. Steve Forbes made it very clear in the post-game press conference that he thinks that his team

deserves to play in March. He thinks that his team deserves to be in the big dance

But if not, if they're in the NIT, they're still playing post-season basketball. And at the end of the day, that's what's most important

We've got two more games to go here on quarterfinal Thursday. Duke takes on NC State coming up at 7 p.m

And then it's Boston College, Virginia at 9.30
