Syracuse Basketball's Most Important Player?

What's up, Orange Fizz Nation? I'm Alex Burstein. It's just about time for Syracuse men's hoops

And the biggest question right now, who's going to be that leader? Who is the most important player on this team

There's a lot of good options. Eddie Lamkin, the transfer from Colorado, the big man, as you need it

You have Chris Bell and JJ Starling, some returners who were electric last year

Even some newcomers, Donnie Freeman. He is going to be really good. But my answer, it's another one of the transfers. Jayquan Carlos, the transfer point guard

from Hofstra, everyone knows. Most important part of basketball team has got to be that point guard

You have to have a general on the court who can really control things. SU obviously lost you to mince, but they bring in a pass first point guard, something that

they have not had in a while. And now you have Carlos. He's been electric at Hofstra was part of the all-conference defensive team

The last two years, obviously a little bit of a step-up in competition coming to the ACC

but he has those defensive tactics that have worked so well. But what really impresses me is those passing abilities

Through two exhibition games, he had 16 assists, led S.U in both of those games with assists

He also scored a little bit last year, 10 points per game. If he can bring those numbers, that would be really impressive

But what really matters is those assists. And we talked about it at the top here, there's a lot of options for scoring for Syracuse

You have Lampkin, you have Bell, you have Starling, you have Elijah Moore, you have Freeman

So many guys who can score, but someone has to get them the ball. That's going to be Jayquon

and Carlos, he is an integral part of the team this year. And if Syracuse needs to win games this year

they're going to have to turn to Carlos, maybe some late clutch points. But if he can just be a steady leader for this team

probably going to be the usual starter. He's going to help lead this team to success

And he's going to start at it this week against Le Moyne, a Monday night game and then the rest of the regular season
