How many ACC teams will make the college playoff?

Hey, Fizz Nation, what's going on? Tyler Aiken here at W.A.R. We're preparing for a broadcast of Syracuse versus Virginia Tech football this week. But let's look bigger picture. Let's look ACC and how many teams can get into the new expanded 12-team college football playoff. And I was actually talking to someone from the ACC Network, Eric McLean, last week, about this very topic. And he said three teams can make it. Now, the three he said would be the winner of the ACC title

game, the loser of the ACC title game, and then maybe a third team

He said he felt very comfortable about the first two, likely going to be Miami and Clemson

but there's a lot of strong other teams. SMU is a very strong new addition to the ACC that could win out, but then not make the ACC

title game because it does not play Clemson or Miami for the rest of the year

Pittsburgh also has a pretty solid schedule, would have to beat SMU, but Pitt undefeated right now

have a path. Then he also mentioned there were a few other strong contenders as well. Syracuse

of course, that was before Syracuse lost to Pittsburgh. And a few other teams around the

conference have pretty good resumes. But two seems to be the minimum and three seems to be the

maximum. Regardless, that's a lot better than some people thought going into the season where

the ACC was maybe going to be a one team conference, especially with the SEC and Big Ten getting

so much stronger. But it's been pretty good. The new 17 team conference

has had a pretty strong start in a new look NCAA and could be having three teams in the

college football playoff
