Through the Louisville Looking Glass

Let me get this straight: Syracuse¬†lost in Louisville, to Steve Kragthorpe, when Andrew Robinson intercepted SU’s final pass?

This is like an MC Escher painting.

There are few Syracuse football truths we hold to be self-evident. But this is one of them: The Orange have PWND Krags. And SU always wins in Louisville. And Andrew Robinson plays for us.

So what the hell happened?

Oh right… an absurdly brutal first half, zero offense on either side of the football, disastrous special teams coverage, a botched extra-point and the inability to successfully execute pass interference on the game-winning touchdown pass – despite drawing the penalty.

Not sure what the rest of the region saw with the Big East Network’s coverage¬†(which is kinda like calling “Weekend Update” part of NBC’s news division), but here in Boston, eerily the audio went out for the Cardinals’ final red zone possession, returned for SU’s kickoff return and then crapped out again just before Paulus’ interception.

The lone smile of the day comes from¬†the UL fans comments about the game. It’s strangely reminiscent of when Groobers beat Notre Dame last season. Gallows humor and sarcastic applause.

The ghost of Andrew Robinson does not die quietly.¬†He was once the program’s quarterback of the future. Then he was a backup tight end. Now¬†he’s a corner for the Cardinals.

Yes, bowl eligibility is gone, although if you were holding your breath for that, may I interest you in Destiny USA?
