Be There! WAER Kicks Off Its Syracuse Football Coverage Saturday

WAER 88.3 FM is your home for SU football throughout the season starting this weekend as the Orange plays host to Northwestern. Our coverage Saturday starts at 11a with an hour long Countdown to Kickoff previewing the season.

During Countdown you’ll hear about Shamarko Thomas persevering through the death of both¬†parents to become a leader of the Orange,¬†SU’s trip to Fort Drum, and Doug Marrone previews the season in a sit down interview. At noon,¬†Bill Spaulding and Chris Lewis bring you the action live from the Dome.

We wrap up our coverage with our postgame call in show, the Double Overtime. You can¬†have you thoughts heard on the¬†Double¬†right through 5p by calling¬†315-443-2011. If you’re away from your radio, you can also catch our play-by-play online at Orange All Access. For more Orange Sports updates, be sure to follow us on twitter @WAERSports and check out our website:¬†waer.org/sports.

Editor’s Note: WAER is my old home, and where I got my start in radio while at SU ’97-’01. Every staff takes an enormous amount of pride in each broadcast, and the tradition is to sink everything you have into game day. If you get a chance, take a listen. You’ll likely hear the next great Syracuse broadcaster. The commitment always makes me proud to be an alum. And if you take a glance at the numerous awards WAER has taken home from the Syracuse Press Club, scroll down to 1999. A certain editor-in-chief of The Fizz cobbled together the Most Memorable Sports Stories of the Year. It’s still stands as my only award… until, of course, I win a Razzy. -D.A.
