Fizz Radio: Should Syracuse Fans Worry About the Hoops Road Woes?

Plus we look at SU’s football facilities, the Katz Controversy, and a lax preview.

On a fresh episode of Fizz Radio, Team Fizz asks if we should start worrying about Syracuse basketball. The Orange has lost three straight Big East road games. We also discuss who was out of line in the Andy Katz controversy: Jim Boeheim or the ESPN reporter?

Syracuse football reportedly will have an announcement on an upgrade in the football facilities. We talk about how Doc Gross’ commitment to improving the complex upgrades Syracuse nationally on the field as well.

And we preview a new season of Syracuse Lax, as SU welcomes Albany to the Dome for its season opener.

We also give you a mid-semester report of the ’12-’13 Orange hoops team. Who scored the best and worse, and of course your Fizz Feedback to the grading.

  1. Let me tell you what burns me a little here D.A. We talk a lot about the mens basketball team on this web site. Not once have I read anything about the Orangewomen Basketball team and how well their doing. They beat Rutgers on Tuesday night. The victory improves their record to 22-3 overall with a 12-0 unbeaten record playing in the dome. I guess the game was broadcast nationally by CBS because of Coach Stringer going for her 900 victory.
But I don’t want you to feel like your the only news outlet ignoring the women’s team. hell I couldn’t find it on the radio either. I believe that Syracuse University has it’s own radio station broadcasting it’s events and I couldn’t find it anywhere’s to listen.

I think your decision to totally blackball this team is disgusting. They need to get some reviews from someone some of the time. They need to have someone give them some credit for having an outstanding season that if they continue will eventually land them in the 2013/2014 NCAA Tournament.

Come on D.A. get off you duff and write something respectable about the team they deserve it.

  2. Last year Coach Q recruited Cornelia Fondren,Brianna Butler,Brittney Sykes,Taylor Ford and Pachis Roberts. These 5 freshman made up the best class(ranked 5th nationally) ever recruited to Syracuse University for Womens Basketball. Two of the players were McDonald All Americans.

Here is the team states for 2013.

    Overall record 22-3
    Conf. record 12-2
    Win streak 6 games
    Home record 12-0
    Away record 8-3
    Neutral court 2-0

Let’s get them some exposure D.A. I’m done ranting now, they deserve a lot of credit. The girls are setting all sorts of records for women’s basketball at Syracuse University. Let’s all get on board and support this team.

  3. Russell MacEachern

Hey Ron,I almost missed this thread and ur right…congrats to coach Q on a nice win, season and elevating the Lady Orange to national status!!Why so little Buzz DA?Ive been watching coach Qs recruiting slowly elevate our wbb team to big dance status so give them a little credit…good for Ron,a man’s man to bring it to the Fizzfams attention!!

  4. @Russell MacEachern;

One of most amazing things Russ about this team is our center Kayla Alexander, this year she became the all time leader in scoring points in Syracuse History and no doubt will get drafted into the WNBA and play pro ball. She has told me that(after her basketball career is over) she wants to become a teacher either in Canada or the USA.

She carries herself and articulates her message well. She’s a great ambassador for the university and women’s basketball. I wish her all the best after graduation and I know that she will accomplish the goals that she has set for herself.

  8. Woah! I’m really enjoying the template/theme of this blog. It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times it’s tough to get that “perfect balance” between user friendliness and visual appearance. I must say that you’ve done a great job with this. In addition, the blog loads super quick for me on Safari. Excellent Blog!

  9. These are games that either appeal to the fun, family side of her or her innate desire
to control the pathetic life of someone else in the case of
the Sims. Ask yourself, “when was the last time I took a walk on the wild side. Maybe the girl keeps a specific thing in her handbag.

  10. Highly energetic blog, I loved that bit. Will there be a part 2?
