An Early NBA Look For Syracuse Fans & Fantasy Owners

What to expect from some of Syracuse’s biggest names?

The NBA regular season is here, and that means plenty of Orange fans¬†are¬†tuning in to see how their favorite Syracuse products look at the next level. Whether you play fantasy basketball or are a fan of a particular team, here’s a look at what to expect out of some of the best players.

Carmelo Anthony

This is a¬†very important season for Carmelo Anthony. The¬†fantasy basketball¬†standout is still one of the best scorers in the NBA, but the New York Knicks are trying to become contenders again. He will be trying to fit into a new triangle offense that might limit his touches a little bit. He is still going to be the leading scorer, but his days of competing for a NBA scoring title might be over. The Knicks have struggled out of the gate, but there’s always hope to¬†make the playoffs in a watered-down East. It would be hard to¬†expect much more than a decent fight in the 1st¬†round.

Michael Carter-Williams

Even though he is the reigning rookie of the year in the NBA, expectations are not high for Michael Carter-Williams in year 2. He was not exactly the most efficient player last year, but part of the reason he has struggled is the terrible team he is surrounded with. He has been asked to do more than he should at this point in his career for the Philadelphia 76ers. They are still in the middle of a long rebuilding project, so he will only get slightly more help from some of the youngsters this season. The statistics may be there but the point guard will still struggle with efficiency.

Dion Waiters

This could be an exciting time for Dion Waiters and the Cleveland Cavaliers. After spending the 1st part of his career playing for a franchise that was out of the playoffs, the team traded for Lebron James and Kevin Love to make themselves instant contenders. Waiters dropped in the pecking order as a scoring option, but he has a chance to fit in nicely with the new offense. Fantasy basketball owners should look for a more efficient shooting season for the young 2-guard.
