Syracuse 2015 long snapper commit Matt Keller took part in the Under Armour All America Game last week. Keller’s Team Highlight defeated Team Armour 46-6 at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida. According to KohlsKicking.com Keller is the top rated long snapper in 2015.
The fourth latest player to commit to SU tweeted, “[The All America Game] was the best experience of my life! Could not be more thankful for this opportunity and for everyone involved.” The Under Armour All America Game was first played in 2008 and according to Rivals and ESPN, Keller is the first Syracuse commit to play in it.
Keller will replace senior long snapper Sam Rodgers next season. He has the opportunity to snap for the sixth-rated high school kicker in 2015, Sterling Hofrichter (via Kohl’s Kicking).
In Florida, two nights ago linebacker Doyle Grimes tweeted, “February 4th I will make a decision that’s going to change my life for the next four years.” Grimes initially committed to Syracuse in July, but then decommitted and gave a verbal to Marshal in October. Judging by his tweet, the linebacker plans to make one more switch on February 4th, which happens to be National Signing Day.
Grimes visited Syracuse in early December, which could have swayed his decision to SU. During the visit freshman cornerback Antwan Cordy tweeted, “We got my Brother in Cuse right now @MealTicket_ (Doyle Grimes) my day 1 since we was little kids.” Both players are from Homestead, Florida and attended South Dade High School.
Last season, offensive lineman Denzel Ward waited until National Signing Day to choose Syracuse. This year Doyle Grimes could do the same thing.
