Syracuse Just Found More Competition For Rising Sedee Keita

Two major players have jumped into the race.

The moment Tyus Battle chose Michigan, speculation has churned over what Syracuse’s ’16 Class will look like. While the Orange is clearly a major-player in the NCAA, who will join Matt Moyer on the Hill in 18 months? Time to look at 4-star PF Sedee Keita. The bad news is that Kansas and LSU (who landed the top recruit in ’15, Ben Simmons) have jumped into the fray, according to Adam Zagoria. He’s got offers from Auburn and South Carolina, but most experts have him leaning heavily to Syracuse at the moment. He recently told NunesMagician¬†his interest in SU is high.

Unfortunately for SU fans hoping for some family help, Sedee is no relation to Baye Moussa Keita. Instead, Sedee is a young man who exploded from 6′ to 6’9″ in a matter of just three seasons. Some have him listed at 6’11” now (he’s probably closer to 6’10”), and he has shot up recruiting charts over the last calendar year. He’s now ranked 57th overall in his class by ESPN. Interestingly, that puts him one slot ahead of… Moyer.

The Orange offered Keita last summer, and he would prove a perfect compliment to Moyer. While they would both play in the front court, SU will be losing Mike Gbinije, Tyler Roberson, Dajuan Coleman, and Chinoso Obokoh over the next two seasons. Restocking the front line is always valuable.

Keita is starting to build some momentum. Let’s see if he lands at SU like many think, or if his new suitors end up thwarting that plan.
