Scott Shafer v. Dino Babers, Elijah Daniels Breaks Down His Recruitment

The Daniels twins will decide between SU and Maryland.

Elijah and Elisha Daniels are twins who both play cornerback. They come from Florida and are on an official visit at the University of Maryland this weekend. They hope to visit Syracuse next weekend. The Fizz sat down with Elijah earlier this week to discuss his interest in SU.

Daniels says Syracuse and Maryland are his top schools. He then detailed exactly what he’s looking for from the college experience.

“Right now I’m just taking my visits and seeing what colleges have to offer to me and my brother. Right now I’m just going with the flow…I want a school that offers not only a good athletic career, but a good academic career [too], to set me up for the future…I want great guidance from older guys that have more wisdom than me and can teach me the things that I need to learn to be successful in life.”

Daniels has a relationship with Scott Shafer as well as Dino Babers.

“Coach Shafer offered me when he was there, his coaching staff. They offered me, but they didn’t offer my brother. This coaching staff offered me and my brother as well. They came from Bowling Green and we both had offers from there.”

Nick Monroe has recruited the Daniels brothers for ‘Cuse while Shafer has been recruiting them for Maryland.

“Me and my brother and Coach Monroe, we always had a connection. He’s a great guy. Coach Shafer, my first time meeting him was today actually, him and Coach Durkin came by to see me and my brother. He seems like a great guy, he’s a very energetic guy, he has passion about the game of football, he loves defense. He’s the kind of coach that I want to play for.”

Daniels finished the conversation by talking about the close bond he has with his twin brother Elisha.

“He’s the ying to my yang. Everything I’m bad at he’s good at and everything I’m good at he’s bad at. We kind of pick off each other. We learn every single day from each other. We kind of have a very, very close bond and we play off each other. We’ve gotten this far, we’re going to see how things go in the next four years and on from there.”
