Recruiting Updates On Four SU Prospects

A number of SU football and basketball targets have made headlines in the past few days. Here’s what you need to know.

Raheme Fuller

Early Monday, the 2017 cornerback from Florida tweeted out a list of his top eight schools with Syracuse listed first.

Fuller was offered by SU in May and told the Fizz he was a fan of Nick Monroe.

“I really like the coaching staff, Fuller said. “I like the secondary coach, he’s the type of coach I like. He brings a lot of hype. You can’t have a defensive backs coach that is not hype. Defensive backs have to have the most swag on the field.”

SU’s 2017 class is currently light in the secondary. There is no clear-cut corner or safety in the group.

Jordan Wright

While the 3-star defensive end has Alabama, Miami and Oklahoma recruiting him aggressively, Syracuse is in the mix as well. Wright will take an official visit to SU in September for the team’s game against USF.

Nick Monroe is Wright’s main recruiter. Landing Fuller as well as Wright would be a massive coup for the Orange.

Hamidou Diallo

Turning over to basketball, the 2017 shooting guard may skip college basketball completely. Diallo holds offers from Duke, Indiana, Kentucky and Syracuse, but may opt to enter the 2017 NBA Draft, per SNY’s Adam Zagoria.

Diallo is taking a post-grad year at Putnam Science Academy in Connecticut this season. When he finishes, he could make the same decision Thon Maker did and enter the draft without playing a year in college.

When Zagoria asked Diallo about the choice this past weekend he said, ‚ÄúI’m not really looking at [the NBA] right now. But it’s possible.‚Äù

Andrew White

The number of schools pursuing the gradate transfer seems to be down to two, according to multiple reports. Syracuse and VCU are the finalists. With the school year on the horizon, a decision has to come soon. Stay tuned…
