2017 Florida running back Markenzy Pierre came on Fizz Radio this week to discuss his interest in Syracuse. Pierre is currently committed to Western Kentucky, but has enjoyed the recent attention he has received from the Orange coaching staff.
“I’m very interested in Syracuse. They’re a great program and they have great potential, plus I like Orange.”
On a future Syracuse visit
“I just really want to see what Syracuse has to offer and I’m planning to take the visit because I am interested and I do like Syracuse.”
On the Dino Babers Virginia Tech postgame speech
“It was really cool how he believed in his players and how hard they fought for the win and they actually got the win. It was really nice to see how hard they worked and how happy they were. I got fired up watching it. It felt like he touched me, watching that. Seeing how the players reacted really set them apart from other schools.”
On SU’s offense
“There’s a lot of opportunities to get the ball at a very rapid pace and that’s great. The more touches, the more plays and I really like that about Syracuse. Nobody does it better than them when it comes to plays per game.”
On his Syracuse recruiters
“I’ve talked to Coach Mike Hart a few times and he just pretty much gave me the rundown of what Syracuse has to offer and what to expect as a running back.”
On what he’d bring to SU
“They’ll be getting a dog that’s willing to work hard no matter what. When the game gets tougher, I get better and the more snaps I play the harder I run.”
On potentially playing Power Five football
“It would be a huge honor, I’d get to play against the best of the best and really show my skills and what I got. I could also potentially get an opportunity to play at the next level.”
