Family Reunion: Three Boeheims will be on the Same Court, in Same Game This Season

Each year, the story seems about the same.

Syracuse basketball has beaten Cornell each of the past 38 times the teams have played, going back to 1969. All-time, Syracuse is 59-19 against the Big Red.

But this year, things are a little different. On December 1, SU will host Cornell in the Carrier Dome, and three Boeheims will be involved with the game. Syracuse athletics announced the addition of Colgate to the schedule on Thursday.

As you already know, Hall of Famer Jim Boeheim is entering his 43rd season as the Orange’s head coach.

Also, a recap of last year‚Äôs game against Colgate would point out that freshman Jimmy Boeheim played for the Big Red. You guessed it, he‚Äôs the SU head coach’s son.

Now, in 2018, Buddy Boeheim joins the Orange. He won’t be the best player on the team, but he is a solid three-point shooter, making it very possible he will see some playing time.

And if Buddy does see some minutes on the first of December, that would leave three Boeheims on the same court at the same time in the same game. (And it would lead to a lot of confusion while keeping statistics and talking about who did what in the game. First names, please…) Regardless, all three will be active in the same college basketball game.

They say Orange versus Big Red is a color war. This year, it might look more like a family feud.
