Team Fizz

D.A. (SU ’01) is the Vader to this Fizz Deathstar. Creator in August ’08, he has steered the ship into many an iceberg in his time at the helm. By day a blogger, by night host of “The D.A. Show” on 98.5 The Sports Hub in Boston. In between, been known to battle Herm Edwards and lament the new Syracuse basketball unis. D.A. began his radio career at WAER in Syracuse where he was Sports Director. Email D.A.: damon@985thesportshub.com

Andrew Kanell (SU ’13) began writing for The Fizz in October ’10. From Andover, MA, he grew up a diehard B.C. fan. One of his earliest memories of watching SU came in ‘04, when Diamond Ferri broke his heart. Andrew works for WAER Sports, as both a play-by-play announcer and in-studio host. He’s also a member of the Z89 and Orange All-Access sports staff. He considers himself a nice guy, but when supporting the Boston teams, he is a definitely a Masshole. Email Andrew: ajkanell@syr.edu

Craig Hoffman (SU ’12) joined Team Fizz in December ’10. He brings an outside opinion, growing up in South Carolina and spending two years at Middle Tennessee State. He’s President and GM of Z89 Radio and works on the sports staff at WAER. He produced for “Disturbing the Peace” on ESPN Radio 97.7/100.1. Many people have called him clinically insane. He prefers masterfully creative. We’ll let you be the judge. Email Craig: choffman223@gmail.com

Dave Van Moffaert (SU ’12) joined The Fizz in March ’11. Van Moffaert spent his first year at the University of Rhode Island studying oceanography, and then realized spending a lot of time in water is not his gig. He hails from the farm land of Roxbury, Connecticut and is still convinced the Whalers will come back to their native state. Van Moffaert is on the Z89 sports staff and plays for the club ultimate Frisbee team for SU. The thing he cherishes most at Syracuse? The women. Email Dave: dvanmoffaert@gmail.com

Steve Neikam (SU ’12) joined Team Fizz in March ’11. He is the host of “Sportsline89″ on Z89, as well as a postgame host for SU football, basketball, and lax on WAER’s “Double Overtime.” He’s also an update anchor and producer for “On the Block with Brent Axe” on The Score 1260. The Allentown, PA native and die-hard Jets fan has been accused once or twice of having a Rex Ryan-like attitude. He considers it a compliment. Email Steve: steveneikam@gmail.com

Alex Plavin (SU ’12) joined Team Fizz in March ‘11. The broadcast journalism major hails from New Jersey, but often tells people he lives in New York City because he’s tired of Jersey Shore references. He is a producer, reporter and update anchor for Brent Axe on the Score 1260. He regularly makes the 4-hour drive for New York Giants home games. Been told he talks too much, likes to think of it as giving others listening practice. Email Alex: alexplavin@yahoo.com

Kevin Fitzgerald (SU ’14) joined Team Fizz in September ’11. He breathes all NY sports, but nothing beats a Sunday spent watching his football Giants. He’s the most opinionated sports fan you know, and loves it. K-Fitz is also a member of the Z89 radio sports staff and is host of the “Weekend Wake Up Call.” His first ever story on the recruitment of Kenderious Whitehead immediately shot up to the “Most Read Fizz” of the week. Email Kevin: kevinfitz91@gmail.com

Jake Moskowitz (SU ’15) joined Team Fizz in October ’11. A proud New Hampshirite, “Live Free or Die” doesn’t do justice to the shenanigans Jake finds himself in. He brings a thick slice of opinion with a little humor baked right into each and every post. Having accepted he’s far better talking sports than playing them, Jake studies Broadcast Journalism while working on the Sports and News staff at WAER. Email Jake: jmosk7@gmail.com
