The Fizz has gotten to the bottom of the most recent Jawan Simmons rumor-sphere.
The Fizz has learned Nottingham (NY) quarterback Jawan Simmons has still not been offered by Syracuse.
Just this week [7.29.09],¬†The Fizz had delved into the recruiting battle going on for the athletic signal-caller in SU’s backyard.
A rumor circulated around the Twittersphere on Friday he had verbally committed to the Orange.
After a quick call to his basketball coach, (who was caught completely off guard by the question) who then contacted Simmons, it became clear that it was all a farce.
Simmons is good, but as of Saturday still doesn’t have a D-1 offer known to anyone in the recruiting world.
If (when) he gets the official word from Doug Marrone and co. The Fizzwill have it.
Team Fizz, saving the Orange blogosphere one recruiting rumor at a time.
So this¬†Fizzster has been at the Duramed Futures Alliance Bank Classic at Drumlins tournament working 13 hour shifts lately. If you don’t know about the Futures tour, just know this. It’s a whole lot of hot chicks who can drive golf balls a lot farther than you can.
Judging driving distance all day, I have a new respect for this tour; these girls can flat out crush the rock.
Not to mention that I’m baked. Not Marinovich-Marshall Street baked, but sunburnt. The entire weekend has been spent without the protection of air conditioned press boxes, radio booths or¬†FizzCast studios. Pure, unadulterated heat has shifted the bro-like orange glo to a deep red.
But that isn’t stopping me from going to Big East Football Media Day in Newport Rhode Island.
Many believe that this is a great opportunity to get exclusive FizzCast opportunities, unfiltered access to players and a free clambake.
And I’ll be participating in all of that, but it’s not my purpose in Rhode Island.
Rutgers head coach Greg Schiano has stolen recruits from SU like Lil’ Wayne steals beats from other rappers.
Sure, he makes them better and the program is a perennial Top-25er (just like with Weezy) but it doesn’t matter. The Ray Rice deal still sours this citrus heart.
Which is why it is this Fizzsters full intention to beat Schiano in the annual Media Day golf scramble.
Blessed with the drive of Tiger Woods and playing with WAER’s Alex Perlman (who can hit a shot inside 160 yards, unlike myself), it is now my sole purpose at this event.
Do I know that he’s playing? No. Can I hit 50% of Newport National’s fairways? Well, that remains to be seen. Point is, I will come back withFizzclusive podcasts and info no matter what; Schiano is the wild card and makes or breaks the trip.
There’s only one problem; I might be going to Rhode Island with Ryan Miller, and if I do beat the Rutgers head man, there is no doubt Miller’s tape will be confiscated.
I’ll be all over the Big East scene for the next three days, so just stick around.
