Unfortunately, the Orange was not able to reel in a very talented and highly sought after defensive standout. DE Jake Pickard announces on Twitter that he’s chosen Wisconsin. Of course, in the aftermath of the KJ Williams situation every Orange fan knows that verbal commitments are never the end of the road – and even when signature hits paper on the LOI, there’s things that can pop up.
But Pickard is a highly skilled coming off the edge, especially at his size of 6’5″, 235 pounds. Virginia, Oregon and Nebraska were also coveting the pass rusher. He’s also extremely coordinated and agile, so much so that some schools like Rutgers and BC were offering him a chance to play TE.
There are other DE’s the Orange now has to focus on. Pickard hails from Milburn, NJ so it was a big-time recruit in SU’s backyard, and some thought it had come down to SU and Wisconsin. But Pickard chose the Badgers and will set his sights on the Big 10.
