Keivonnis Davis Not Concerned With George McDonald Departure

Departure of Robert Welsh, Micah Robinson opens up playing time for Florida native.

The defense has been Syracuse’s strong side during the two seasons of the Scott Shafer era.

SU is losing players on defense and although the offense is what needs the most work right now, more talent is coming through for the Orange.

Three-star commit Keivonnis Davis is a defensive end from the Miami area, who made his commitment back in November. The Orange is losing key players like Micah Robinson and Robert Welsh, who are both seniors. Although Davis may not get immediate time on the field next season, he is going to play a role on a team that is more defense-oriented.

Davis also had offers from Cincinnati, Florida International, Pittsburgh, South Florida, and West Virginia. It will be interesting to see what his status remains, considering he was a recruit of George McDonald, according to Rivals.com.

The 6’4″, 240 pound defensive end told Stephen Bailey of the Syracuse Post-Standard that a big reason to go to Syracuse was because of McDonald. This was one of the big things that Syracuse loses now, without McDonald, who has left for NC State. McDonald has a strong connection to solid recruits from the Miami and Fort Lauderdale area so if Davis decides he may go elsewhere, this would be a prime example of how McDonald leaving could really be an issue for the Orange.
