Florida safety Devon Clarke has not yet been offered by Syracuse, but he has been talking with the Orange’s new staff recently. Earlier this week the Fizz spoke with Clarke about his interest in SU.
On where he stands with Syracuse
“Before Bowling Green, Syracuse was my top for the longest time through the summer even though they hadn’t offered me…I like that they play in the Dome and because I feel like they’re going to do some big things in the future too in the ACC.
On his interest in Bowling Green before the coaching regime left for SU
“Was I considering Bowling Green [before the coaching change,] yes I was considering Bowling Green, but it was not for the coaching staff. I felt like they were actually a great school and I felt like they would do more big things in the future, so I wanted to be a part of that.”
On the coaches that he has been in touch with
“[I’m talking with] Coach Monroe. [We’ve had] real good conversations, but he told me I should not talk too much [about Syracuse] just yet…He told me yesterday when I got off the phone with him that the whole defensive staff loved my film when he showed it to them, so I’m high on their board now.
On his strengths as a player
“When I’m on the field, I fear no one. If one of my coaches says hey fill that gap for me, I’m going to go in there and fill that gap up. I’m a very physical player; I’m athletic because I play outside linebacker too. I was going to play receiver, but I had that shoulder injury so they took me out of that receiver spot.
