Syracuse basketball’s 2018 class is No. 21 in the nation, per 247Sports.com, and it includes a Top 10 recruit in Darius Bazley. Bazley, along with other commits from the 2018 and 2019 classes were in action over the weekend, as well as a 2019 target who has been turning heads with his stat lines.
Darius Bazley
Orange fans had the opportunity to see Bazley live on ESPNU when he and Princeton (OH) faced off against Vermont Academy and fellow Top 10 recruit Romeo Langford. Bazley tied the game in the closing seconds of regulation to force overtime, but fouled out in the extra period and took a 65-64 loss. Bazley finished with 24 points and moves which made SU fans excited for the future.

Jalen Carey
Jalen Carey’s Immaculate Conception took a four-point win last weekend, and Carey finished with a modest 20 points, or so we thought.
Montclair Immaculate holds off Neptune 59-55. Jared Kimbrough 21 pts, 6 rebs. Syracuse commit Jalen Carey 20 for Immaculate.

As it turns out, a typo had taken away some of Carey’s credit.
Should say 30 for Carey. He and Sam Fagan (14 pts, 3 assists) were the game MVPs.

Carey scored more than half of his team’s points in a hard-fought victory. Carey is the only guard Jim Boeheim went after in SU’s 2018 class and got his man after seeing many guard prospects choose other schools in recent years. He can be the future of the Syracuse backcourt.
Brycen Goodine
The Orange only has one commit in the 2019 class so far: Brycen Goodine. The junior finished with 24 points and a dunk well-documented by the Fizz’s Jonathan Hoppe. Goodine is only listed as a three-star recruit in the 2019 class, but his length at the wing guard fits well into the Boeheim system. Isiah Stewart and Khalif Battle (brother of Tyus) are two other notable targets in 2019.
Jon Girard III
Jon Girard doesn’t have much love from the recruiting sites yet, but continuing to drop 50-point games will change that. He had quite the performance for Glens Falls against Hudson Falls.
Joseph Girard III pumped in 58 points Friday (seven 3-pointers, 25-for-25 at the foul line) to lead Glens Falls past Hudson Falls 104-65. The junior has now scored 697 points in 14 games this season, moving him to the No. 2 slot all-time in state history with 2,854 career points.

Girard is averaging 49.8 points per game this season, with a perimeter shot to match an absurd ability to get inside and find contact. It’s safe to say scoring will translate to the college game in some way, but the New York native doesn’t have a Syracuse offer yet.
