Tough. Resilient. Dogged. All words that were frequently used to describe Eric Dungey during his four years as Syracuse’s starting QB. A bit less than a year removed from his college playing days, Dungey is showing his persistence once again.
After being cut by the Giants in training camp and taking part-time jobs with ESPN Radio and TK99 in Syracuse, Dungey’s playing career seemed in doubt. Turns out, Dungey could be drafted after all.
The XFL, owned by media mogul Vince McMahon, will return for the first time since its lone season in 2001. Dungey is in the draft pool along with his former wide receiver Erv Phillips.
Most Orange alumni will be hoping Dungey lands with the New York Guardians, who call Metlife Stadium home. A west-coast return could be in store for the Oregon product if Seattle’s Dragons are enticed by Dungey.
The XFL draft is October 15-16th. The results will be announced via social media.
