Chaz Owens, son of SU basketball great, Billy Owens will join the Orange for the upcoming basketball season, on scholarship.
The 6’5’’ wing out of Pennsylvania could provide some depth to the Orange roster. He’s coming off a post-graduate season at Scotland Campus after playing for two seasons each at Wissahickon High School and The Shipley School.
In his sophomore season at Wissahickon, Owens became an important part of the roster, finishing an impressive campaign with 30 points in a 54-50 win in the District 1 Class A playoffs.
He then joined Shipley for the 2017-18 academic season, putting up 7.5 points and 4.6 rebounds. In his senior season there, the son of the SU legend helped his squad to a 20-6 record, scoring 11.4 points and snatching 8.2 rebounds per game.
After his 4 years of high school, Owens went on to play for Chris Chaney at Scotland Campus. Chaney has sent more than 140 players to Division 1 programs.
Owens enrolled at SU and began taking classes Monday, he’s expected to take the last of the Orange scholarship spots.
