Syracuse basketball head coach Jim Boeheim has tested positive for COVID-19, he announced Sunday night via Twitter.
Boeheim, 75, is asymptomatic and beginning his isolation period. As of right now, one other Orange staff member has been reported positive. ACC rules for fall sports mandate that a student-athlete (and presumably a coach or staff member) that tests positive for the coronavirus must isolate for at least 10 days.
Syracuse has also halted practices and workouts.
The positive tests come less than two weeks before SU’s first scheduled game, a November 27th contest at the Dome against Bryant. Associate head coach Adrian Autry would be Boeheim’s presumed fill-in if the SU head man is still in isolation.
