Once again, Clemson is stacked. Yes, they lost week 1 to Georgia, but that doesn’t mean they won’t romp the ACC for another consecutive season. Dabo Swinney and gang have coached this team up to a point in which some of their guys, i.e. James Skalski, are already slipping into coaching roles. D.J. Uiagalelei sat behind number 1 overall pick, Trevor Lawrence for long enough to where he should without a doubt be the most dangerous QB in the ACC. Preseason number 1 overall WR, Justyn Ross also returns to the team after a scary injury diagnosis that’s sidelined him since the end of 2019. Don’t forget about their monstrous defense either, this Tigers team may have the most dangerous defensive front yet. Seems as if there are too many talented names to count, Xavier Thomas, Myles Murphy, Bryan Bresee, Baylon Spector, Andrew Booth Jr., and more. Look for Clemson to be head and shoulders above the ACC again in 2021.
Who to look out for on gameday:
Quarterback – D.J. Uiagalelei #5
At 6-5, nearly 250 lbs, Uiagalelei is looking to put the ACC on notice that he’s the next big thing in South Carolina. D.J. has a rocket for an arm as well as a solid ability to run the football. He did not look spectacular in week 1 against the Bulldogs, but look for him to bounce back and look a lot stronger against Clemson’s first ACC opponent of the year, Georgia Tech.
Wide Receiver – Justyn Ross #8
Justyn Ross has something to prove coming back from a frightening injury. Fans and media alike are just happy to see one of the country’s best young players out on the field after it was uncertain whether or not he’d ever play again. Ross was voted the top ACC receiver this past pre-season for a reason. He’s big, fast, talented, and the number one option for the best offense in the ACC. Should be a big year for the Alabama native.
Linebacker – James Skalski #47
The “Pete Rose” of this team is looking to lead the Tigers to their 6th college football playoff appearance under his watch. At the ACC Kickoff n Charlotte, when asked about his future and the possibility of coaching after his career at Clemson, Skalski said, “I show up every day and I’m in love with what I do….I just can’t think of my life without the game of football….in some form or fashion, I’ll be around this game, that’s how I see it.” Doesn’t seem like he’ll be leaving South Carolina anytime soon.
