The stars are out. Both the men’s and the women’s college basketball scene is blowing up this season, with a whole host of talent coming from every state.
Here’s the stars to watch out for as they should give you some tremendous NCAAB betting odds.
- Chet Holmgren – Gonzaga
Despite his thin frame, Holmgren is perhaps the most interesting freshman in the nation, and a vital cog for Gonzaga. Holmgren and Drew Timme are the team’s two best players, but Holmgren is projected as a possible top overall draft pick. Holmgren is expected to take big strides throughout the season and be one of the forces of March.
As a 7-footer with great ball skills, Holmgren has a scoring average of 18.3 points per game, and with more time on the court, we can expect this average to increase.
2. Ashley Owusu – Maryland
Ashley Owusu brings power, anticipation, creating a whole new layer of “I can’t look away” moments.
When Owusu has the ball, she could dish a no-look pass, pull up, dribble between defenders, or attack the rum.
Her athletic ability and high hoops IQ makes her nearly impossible to guard.
If you see a Maryland game on TV check out Owusu.
3. Paolo Banchero – Duke
Banchero has already garnered some buzz for the National Player of the Year Award. Long way to go but for now, his talent is talking for him.
Adding Banchero the Blue Devils are predicted to bounce back from their poor season last year. A lot rides on Banchero’s shoulders, so it will be interesting to see if he buckles or if he strides.
4. Zia Cooke – South Carolina
Last season, Cooke proved to everyone watching that she will not be stopped; not from a shove to the floor, not from an injury, not from anything the opponents can throw at her.
Cooke was electric as she zipped around the court making plays. Her ability to handle the ball is effortless, she is one of the smoothest players in the nation.
5. Emoni Bates – Memphis
In high school, Bates was at the top of his class. He was such a stand-out player SI put him on their cover, and many assumed he would opt for a professional route first. But he chose Memphis and now we get to watch him deliver on his potential.
6. Lauren Park-Lane – Seton Hall
Throughout all of college basketball, Park-Lane is undoubtedly one of the most exciting players to watch. She landed Most Improved Player award for the Big East. Lauren Park-Lane will be one of the must-watch players on the court this season.
