Syracuse offers 2025 three-star small forward Ryder Frost

Syracuse men’s basketball often merges the forward and guard positions. Depending on the depth chart, JJ Starling, Chris Bell, Chance Westry and Jyare Davis all could be listed at the small forward position or a number of other spots.

That’s a pretty stacked group of players. But with all possibly leaving Syracuse after the 2024 season, the Orange are starting to look ahead to 2025. Monday SU offered three-star small forward recruit Ryder Frost to add to the list of potential replacements.

Standing at 6-6, the Massachusetts native excels from beyond the three point line. Frost has broken out the past few weeks while playing on the UAA Circuit with the Middlesex Magic out of Boston, shooting 43% from beyond the arc. This past weekend he had 32 points off of nine threes during a game.

It’s a similar story to how Frost played this past year for Phillips Exeter Academy. He was named Class A player of the Year en route to a New England Class A title. Over the season, the wing averaged 21.6 points per game with an eye-popping 44% accuracy from three.

Colleges are starting to take notice of Frost. Nebraska, Minnesota, Wake Forest, NC State and Virginia Tech all extended offers to him yesterday, in addition to Syracuse. After mostly receiving mid-major offers through the end of this high school season, it seems Power Five teams are starting to take a look at the three-point specialist.

SU could use as much help from deep as possible. The Orange finished fourth in the ACC for three-point percentage two seasons ago, but dropped all the way to eleventh this season.

Frost is the fifth small forward in the 2025 class that Coach Autry’s squad has offered, according to 247Sports. After bringing in a five-star and four-star in the 2024 class, SU seems to be in play for top prospects like power forward Sadiq White Jr. and shooting guard Kiyan Anthony for next season.
While the 2025 class still has plenty of time to announce their commitments, Syracuse seems to have offered Frost at the right time. If he continues with his hot shooting, Frost could shoot up the recruit rankings, much like 2024 recruit Donnie Freeman did this past year. The three-star ranking might not be here for long.
