Kiyan Anthony Set To Take Second Visit to SU

“Obviously my Dad went there 20 something years ago…I feel like they’re recruiting me for myself, and not just because of my father. That’s what I like.”

Those were the words of Kiyan Anthony on the topic of being recruited to Syracuse. The quote comes after Anthony reportedly told On3’s Joe Tipton what school’s he is considering visiting with his recruitment ramping up. The New York native’s list includes Ohio State, Auburn, USC, and Rutgers along with a return trip to Syracuse. Anthony also told Tipton that he is also receiving interest from Arkansas, and new head coach of the razorbacks John Calipari.

Anthony is currently ranked four stars by 247 sports. He slots as the number 31 overall player in the nation, and the number one recruit in New York State.

Being ranked the best player in the state gives Anthony the opportunity to play his high school ball with Long Island Lutheran in Glen Head, NY. The Crusaders ended this past season ranked third in the entire nation, showing the elite talent he is competing with on a weekly basis. As for the 2025 EYBL circuit, he is averaging 20.3 points per game, along with 4.6 rebounds a game.

Anthony’s size and prolific scoring is the reason why he has gained so much hype heading into his senior season. It’s also the reason why Coach Autry wants him to commit to the 315. With Anthony saying, “I feel like they’re recruiting me for myself, and not just because of my father. That’s what I like,” shows that Autry wants Kiyan because of his play, not his last name.

Anthony visited SU back in October of 2023, making a post on Instagram after the official visit titled “Carry the torch?”

While there is still a long way to go before Anthony decides on a school for next year, SU has positioned themselves perfectly to land the 6 ‘5 forward. The chance for Anthony to become a star in his home state, and carry on Carmelo’s legacy at SU seems like a hard offer to pass up on.
