Ranking Syracuse Football Road Trips in 2024

Syracuse football games at the Dome are going to be fun to go to this year. Season tickets are going fast, and even single-game tickets are a hot commodity. Don’t be surprised if there’s a few sell outs this fall. Still, due to some fun out-of-conference games and a new-look ACC, there’s going to be some fun road trips that Orange fans could take. Here’s our ranking of road trips from least to most enjoyable for a ‘Cuse fan.

5. Boston College

Boston College and Syracuse have been playing for a century. Literally, their first clash was in 1924. While the history is nice, a road trip that the Orange have made 27 times isn’t unique at all. Boston is a nice city, but it will be on the colder side on November 9, so it won’t be a particularly comfortable watch if you’re used to indoor football. Unless you have a special connection to this game, it’s probably the least exciting road trip.

4. Pittsburgh

The only other northeastern road trip has some more intrigue to it. It’s on a Thursday night, which should make for an exciting atmosphere. As for location, it’ll be at Acrisure Stadium (previously Heinz Field). Whether playing at an off-campus NFL stadium is good or bad is up to you to decide. However, Syracuse and Pitt have played some fun games against each other, so the crowd should be loud for this one.

3. NC State

In terms of the actual quality of football, this should be the best game on the list by a sizable amount. NC State is a dark horse contender to win the ACC, while Syracuse football could be 5-0 going into this game. That screams must-watch football. The only reason this game loses points is because it’s a place SU has been to a fair amount, eight times total and five times in the last decade. It’ll be a fun trip, but not a new trip.

2. Cal

Syracuse’s first cross-country game against an ACC foe! It’ll be weird going that far for a conference game, but fun for sure. Cal Memorial Stadium is a historic stadium, while Berkley is a beautiful area in general. In five years, maybe all the trips SU has to make to California will be tiresome, but for the first time, it should be a cool new experience for Orange fans.

1. UNLV

What can beat Vegas? On this list, nothing. There’s a lot to like for this fan road trip. UNLV is a respectable opponent, so it should be a good game. Plus, you get to see Allegiant Stadium, a state-of-the-art facility that’s home to the Raiders and just hosted the Super Bowl. Most importantly, you have an excuse to visit Las Vegas. This is a no-brainer for the top Syracuse football fan road trip this season.
