Sadiq White To Play Senior Season At IMG Academy

The headlines this summer in the 315 may be dominated by Fran Brown and his inaugural season on the gridiron, but Adrian Autry and SU men’s basketball have had themselves a significant offseason thus far. Back in May, the Orange made a big splash on the recruiting boards, landing class of 2025 five-star Sadiq White. The 6’8” forward won’t join Autry’s squad just yet but will finish his high school career at one of the most prestigious schools in the nation: IMG Academy.

White, who ranks as the 20th-best player in the nation and the sixth-best power forward in his class, spent his first three seasons at Myers Park High School in Charlotte, North Carolina. In White’s junior year, he averaged 17 points per game alongside six rebounds and two blocks. Scouts praise White for his athleticism, and he’ll look to grow as a scorer during his time at IMG.

Attending IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida is a popular choice among top recruits. Over 20 players in the basketball program have attended the school and have gone on to be drafted into the NBA. White joins the likes of multiple Syracuse basketball alumni to attend the academy in recent years, such as Justin Taylor, Quadir Copeland, and a future possible teammate in 2024 Orange commit Donnie Freeman.

In June, White attended the NBPA’s Top 100 camp down in Orlando. There, he showed out, averaging over 18.5 points and shooting over 50% from the field. The biggest story out of that camp however was White’s athleticism once again, as he was seen dunking at any opportunity he could get.

There’s plenty of time before we’ll see Sadiq White don the orange and white, but attending IMG Academy is a phenomenal opportunity for the senior to grow his game and prepare the best he can for collegiate basketball. The future is certainly bright for Red Autry and the Orange, and hopefully White is the first of many to follow this path to success.
