Top-40 Recruit Acaden Lewis Visits Syracuse Today

The past few years of recruiting for Syracuse basketball have been about as weird as it gets. The 2021 class was just Benny Williams, and we all know how that ended up. Jim Boeheim said that the ’22 class was the best he’s ever seen. It ended up flopping. Then in Boeheim’s final year, 2023, unranked William Patterson was the only player brought in. Red Autry has completely turned things around since taking over. The 2024 class closed as one of the best in the country, highlighted by five-star Donnie Freeman.

The 2025 class is already off to a stellar start. Sadiq White, a consensus four-star, committed back in May setting the foundation for what could be another top class in the country. Now, the Orange have their eyes set on one of the next guys to join the team. Four-star point guard Acaden Lewis told On3’s Joe Tipton that he is visiting the 315 today.

“Cuse has been recruiting me really hard. Coach Red, Straughn, Engelstad are just great guys. I like their system and they’ve done well with guys from my area in the DMV. I think that’s great.”

Lewis is a consensus four-star who has shot up the recruiting rankings over the past year. On3 and ESPN both have him ranked as the top player in Washington, DC. I’ve had the pleasure to watch Lewis play in person a number of times over the past few years and can’t say enough good things about him. The point guard will be the leader of the Sidwell Friends School team next season.

Sidwell may not be the flashiest or most hyped-up DMV program, but they have won three straight DC titles and consistently pump out stars. Multiple NBA players have played for the Quakers over the last 15 years. The two things that always makes Sidwell so good is their lockdown defense and fundamental play. There might not be a program in DC that better prepares student-athletes for the next level than Sidwell. In addition to it’s basketball success, the school is an Ivy League feeder, and academic powerhouse that ensures the players keep up with its extremely high standards.

Work ethic and personality will never be an issue with Acaden Lewis as it has been with some recent Orange players. With Sadiq White already committed as a power forward and Kiyan Anthony extremely interested in the ‘Cuse as a shooting guard, Lewis could be the perfect man to run the point for the 2025 class.
