Kyren Williams was an outright fantasy stud last year but the Los Angeles Rams have faced a laundry list of injuries to start the season, putting even more pressure on their lead running back. Williams had a slow start to the season but erupted for 89 yards on 24 carries with two touchdowns on the ground to show for his troubles in what was a thoroughly impressive win against the San Francisco 49ers. He also added one receiving touchdown so all in all it was a pretty impressive night for the Rams running back.
After three weeks of football, Williams is 7th in carries, 1st in routes, 5th in touches, 1st in TDs, and 4th in fantasy points among RB. Those are all impressive numbers, especially considering he has been playing behind a banged-up offensive line.
But this is where it gets sticky.
The volume just isn’t there for the Rams offense to keep this going. Not for Williams at least. They will go up against Bears defense on the road followed by a game against the Packers at home. The Bears defense hasn’t been leaky, keeping the offense in the game more often than not. The Packers defense is not a strong matchup for Williams, either.
Sportskeeda’s Who Should I Start analyzer has Williams registering a projected 12 points against the Bears with little chance of a touchdown on the road. If you’re looking at Weeks 4 and 5, Williams will still lead the Rams backfield in touches but don’t expect him to go off for multiple touchdowns like he did against the Niners.
You could probably also considering trading Williams for a more reliable running back like Jonathan Taylor or De’Von Achane if you have the resources to target the two.
