Adam (4-4): Boston College 31 – Syracuse 23
Last week, I said that I thought SU would lose because Kyron Drones was the best quarterback that the Orange would face yet this season. Then, Virginia Tech’s QB1 was scratched before the game. Syracuse took on VT’s backup and escaped with a win. The Orange didn’t deserve to win but found a way to get it done. Today, I don’t see SU getting the same breaks that it did last time out. BC is led by Bill O’Brien a former NFL head coach who will have his way with Fran Brown and out coach him. I hate to say it, but we’ve seen enough on-the-field coaching issues from Brown in year one that I don’t see this one going his way.
Tyler (3-0): EXEMPT FROM PREDICTION
A battle of two programs with first-year head coaches in very different spots. Syracuse, with the less experience leader, is doing better. The Orange are coming off arguably their best game of the season. SU really showed a lot of resilience in that comeback win over Virginia Tech. Boston College, on the other hand, has lost three in a row under former NFL coach Bill O’Brien.
Momentum is in the hands of the ‘Cuse going into this one.
Nico (6-2): Syracuse 38, Boston College 23
Here’s the deal: Syracuse came back against Virginia Tech. It wasn’t easy, but the Orange got it done. Now that this outcome occurred, it’s time to wake up and focus on the next four games at hand. It should be one game at a time mentality for the guys on the field, but realize that the next three games are a buildup for the final regular season game against Miami. SU fans are about to find out what Kyle McCord is really made of, and how he delivers when put to the test. With his stature and experience doing so at Ohio State in preparation for Michigan, why won’t he be able to translate that to Syracuse?
Dan S (5-3): Syracuse 35, Boston College 28
It’s time for the Orange to keep the momentum rolling and make up for last year’s ugly loss at home against the Eagles. Some are saying that this is going to be an easy game for SU, but I think it’s going to be anything but that. This is a BC team that is coming off a loss to 25th ranked Lousivlle, while also playing teams like Florida State, Michigan State, and Missouri. All of those matchups show that Boston College is battle tested. However, I think the way the Orange win this game is on the ground. We saw it last week with LeQuint Allen rushing for just over 120 yards and three touchdowns. Without Allen being such a big part of SU’s gameplan, Syracuse could’ve very well lost to Virginia Tech. I think the same goes this week. The Eagles are ranked 10th in the ACC for rushing defense, and that’s something that the Orange should exploit. Similar to the run defense, BC’s pass defense is also ranked 10th in the ACC. That could allow Kyle McCord to thrive, yet I still think the key to winning in Chestnut hill for Syracuse is the run.
Alex (6-2): Syracuse 36, Boston College 21
Both of these teams started the season on a high note and then encountered a setback or two. Syracuse has responded ok, Boston College…not so much. The Eagles are losers of three straight (including not-great Virginia and Virginia Tech squads). The Orange, meanwhile, had an important comeback win last week against Virginia Tech, and, for the first time all year had a balanced rush and pass game. The Eagles give up 140 rushing yards a game. If SU can get similar production out of LeQuint Allen, it should run away with this.
Dan P (4-4): Syracuse 28, Boston College 20
Here’s the thing with Boston College: you never know what you’re going to get. They’ve lost three straight coming in, and I’m not picking any team that openly employs Bill O’Brien. This game reminds me a lot of the NC State game from earlier this season, so I’m gonna go with a similar outcome. Syracuse almost beat them without a quarterback last year, give me the Orange to keep the good times rolling in a Chestnut Hill probably splattered with SU fans.
Henry (4-2): Syracuse 35, Boston College 21
On paper, the defenses of Syracuse and Boston College matchup pretty similar, meaning that the offenses will decide this one. That’s great news for the Orange, with running back LeQuint Allen Jr coming off a three-touchdown performance in Syracuse’s overtime win over Virginia Tech for its 4th win in 5 games. The Eagles on the other hand have struggled as of late, losing 3 straight games. Boston College also doesn’t have the same firepower as Syracuse, as it’s scored more than 30 points in a game just one time this season. The Orange have done it six times and are undefeated when they do, something they’ll continue against the Eagles behind a dominant performance from Allen.”
