Syracuse vs. UConn: Crystal Ball Predictions

Adam (5-5): Syracuse 31 – UConn 17

I’ve said multiple games this year that it’s time for Fran Brown to show that this year’s team is different from Dino’s teams. After the win over Cal last week, I think this is time for Fran to finally prove that this team can play a full 60 minutes and dominate a bad team. Even against Holy Cross and Ohio, there were some shaky moments. Yes, this is a good UCONN team, but it’s still UCONN and the ‘Cuse should be able to win easily.

Tyler (4-0): Syracuse 41 – UConn 17

Trap game? Not so much. Yes, UConn has seven wins, but this is an opportunity for Syracuse to stat pad, run up the score, and keep building confidence before Miami next week. The most disappointing thing about the game will likely be the attendance, but on the field, the Orange should eat on offense and defense.

Nico (7-3): Syracuse 41 – UConn 17

Syracuse just had one of its most complete, if not the most complete game this past weekend at Cal. The Orange looked good from start to finish, and the fast start offensively was the difference maker in that game. Syracuse returns home this weekend for a home matchup versus UConn, and SU should handle business. This is a get ready for Miami type of contest, and I think that Syracuse can take advantage of that. McCord will stay sharp, but if there’s one standout category that needs to keep improving, it’s the Orange rush defense. Do it for Coach Mac.

Dan S (6-4): Syracuse 42 – UConn 21

There is not a world where Syracuse loses this game tomorrow. While the Huskies are winners of their last two, the Orange have the ability to simply overpower UConn. There is also a lot at stake record wise tomorrow for Syracuse. A victory would mark the second consecutive season the Orange have gone undefeated in non-conference play. Before 2023, that hadn’t happened since 1991 when SU first joined a conference. On top of that, quarterback Kyle McCord has a chance to move into first all-time in program history for passing yards. The Ohio State product needs around 275 yards, and is averaging 300+ a game, so if all goes according to plan the senior will own the record. Along with that, wideout Trebor Pena can move into fifth for most receptions in a season with just one more catch. With so much on the line, the Huskies are the perfect team for SU to play. This game should be one filled with record breaking numbers, and be a momentum builder for the season finale against 11th-ranked Miami.

Alex (6-4): Syracuse 36 – UConn 16

If you like quarterbacks, this is the game for you. UConn rolls with a unique two-quarterback system. Both senior Joe Fagnano and sophomore Nick Evers have at least 900 passing yards on the season. That could provide some trickery against the SU defense. But, no one should be able to stop SU’s Kyle McCord, who impressed again last week against Cal. The senior is on the verge of multiple single-season program records. Against a defense that gives up around 200 passing yards a game, it could be a celebratory day at the Dome Saturday.

Dan P (5-5): Syracuse 41 – UConn 20

The Cal game taught us a lot about this Syracuse team. The ability is there to have a complete game and dominate an opponent, it just hasn’t happened yet. Well, this is the game to do it. McCord will break both the single season touchdown and yards record (3 TD, 274 yards away) and the Orange will dominate the Huskies. My bigger concern is how many people will actually be there to see it with the students home for Thanksgiving.

Henry (5-3): Syracuse 35 -UConn 17
Syracuse and UConn are both 7-3, but the Orange have had the 60th toughest schedule in the country while the Huskies have had the 115th toughest. Yes, a UConn rushing game averaging over 200 rushing yards per content gainst a Syracuse defense that has struggled against the run is concerning, but Huskies quarterback Nick Evers is banged-up and questionable for this game. If Evers is out, it’ll be harder for UConn to run the ball and tougher to put points on the board. With that advantage, Orange quarterback Kyle McCord can lead Syracuse to the win.
