Adam (4-3): Virginia Tech 31, Syracuse 24
Last week, I said that Syracuse would beat Pittsburgh because I thought Kyle McCord was a better quarterback than Eli Holstein. Boy was I wrong… Yet for some reason, the same way of thinking has infiltrated my mind and I feel like I have no choice but to pick Virginia Tech because of its quarterback. Kyron Drones is one of the best dual threat QBs in the nation and SU simply hasn’t seen anyone like him. I think the Orange will struggle to contain the Hokies signal caller while McCord struggles again.

The Orange need a rebound, and it won’t be easy this week. The Hokies have a great running back and defensive line, which should give SU some problems. However, Fran Brown is saying all the right things this week. He legitimately seems to have learned a lot from the loss to Pitt. That goes for Kyle McCord too. In Syracuse’s first home game since September, there should be enough energy in the Dome to power a win.

Syracuse is fresh off a disappointing loss at Pittsburgh last Thursday. The Orange even had an extra couple days to reflect and let it sting, but now they’re tasked with a hot Hokies team from Virginia Tech. It’s homecoming weekend for Syracuse, and that also applies to the football squad. SU was on the road for all of October and hasn’t played on home turf since late September against Holy Cross. Kyle McCord needs to show that he can bounce back from a difficult loss, a rare occurrence for the Ohio State transfer. Saturday is a good opportunity to do so. If McCord and the offense can limit the mistakes, Syracuse will be just fine

This has to be a bounce back week for Syracuse. I have full belief the Fran Brown will not what happened to the squad last week happen this week. A few things to be wary of though. Aganist Pittsburgh, Kyle McCord threw the ball 64 times, a season high. Because of that, the SU running game only managed six yards on the day. Heading into today’s game, the Orange must use the run more. VT is ranked 2nd best in the ACC for pass defense, yet second worst for run defense. Syracuse must use that to their advantage and allow Lequint Allen to have consistency with the rock. If all of that goes according to plan, I think there’s no way that the Orange don’t come out on top here. It’s a bounce back week, and Brown needs to prove that.
Alex (6-1): Virginia Tech 24, Syracuse 17
It’s all going to come down to the line. Virginia Tech comes to the Dome ranked top 10 in the nation for sacks/game. And Syracuse’s offensive line has seen some struggles. Kyle McCord saw constant pressure in last week’s loss to Pitt where he threw five touchdowns. It’s gonna be hard for SU to have made big changes to its o-line in one week, and that could be the difference maker.

I’ve been going back and forth about this game for Syracuse. History tells me that the dreadful month of November will continue, and this is the beginning of a major tailspin. Bhayshul Tuten is an elite running back and is going to have a FIELD DAY for the Hokies. But then again, I can’t see Kyle McCord struggling for a second straight game, especially against a weaker pass defense. Give me the Orange in front of a packed Dome crowd to get things back in gear.
Henry (3-2): Syracuse 28, Virginia Tech 27
Quarterback Kyle McCord will want to bounce back after a tough day against Pitt, but this isn’t the spot to do it. Instead, the main focus for Syracuse should be on the run game. Virginia Tech’s secondary is allowing under 200 passing yards per game, but they’ve been susceptible to the run, giving up 161 rushing yards per game. That means the Orange will need a strong performance from running back LeQuint Allen Jr. if they want to win this one. Hokies running back Bhayshul Tuten has 950 rushing yards this season but is nursing a leg injury, so if Syracuse’s defense can stop him, the Orange should come out on top in a close matchup.
