ACC Basketball: F-
The level of basketball in what used to be the best conference in the country is just gross. Watching the SEC and the elite offense that’s played in that league, it’s just sad to watch this. So many missed shots, turnovers, and just straight-up bad basketball. Teams in the league aren’t just losing non-conference games by coincidence, its because they just aren’t that many good teams. Going from legendary coaches to young coaches is a good reason for it.
Kyle Cuffe: B+
Kyle Cuffe is becoming one of the most important players on this team! He made two huge threes in the late stages of the second half. He’s always been a great burst of energy off the bench and that was very true today.
Elijah Moore: D
I have no clue what happened to the Elijah Moore we’ve seen at times this season but he seems to have lost all confidence on the offensive end. He isn’t taking shots. Choppa is supposed to be an elite three-point shooter, he has to be given looks and take them. He just isn’t looking like a four-star at the moment and it really limits the team offensively when Moore isn’t playing to his ability.
JJ Starling: B
It’s good to see Starling back to his old self. He’s confident driving the ball and when JJ has a head of steam, it’s almost impossible to stop him. Starling is still lethal around the rim. It’s frustrating that his offense isn’t up to where it needs to be but his impact is very noticeable on the floor. He also is without a doubt the guy who should have the ball walking up the floor.
Zone Defense: F
People got frustrated with Jim Boeheim because he only played zone and it wasn’t working out. When Adrian Autry switched to zone at the end of the first half, Syracuse gave up points on three straight possessions and went from having the lead to losing it. They just aren’t being coached the zone good enough. There’s no containing drivers and shooters are left wide open. It’s just so unbelievably frustrating to watch.
