Majority of Syracuse Fans Want Adrian Autry Fired: Poll

A poll at CNY Central asking whether Adrian Autry should be fired after the season reflects growing frustration among the Syracuse fan base. The poll says 66% of fans believe the Orange “should move on from” Autry. The poll has almost 2,100 votes and closes this week. SU has fallen to 11-15 and just 5-10 in the ACC, tied for fourth worst record in the conference.

Things have begun spiraling for the Orange, who have lost 6 of their last 8 games. The two wins in that time period are over a pair of teams near the ACC cellar with the Orange, a win over Cal and surviving in triple OT vs. a bad Boston College team. A dispiriting loss to Miami last week, the worst team in the ACC, felt like a nail in the season’s coffin.

It’s almost a foregone conclusion the Orange will miss the NCAA Tournament and the NIT as well. There’s five regular season games left and whatever the ACC Tournament looks like. There’s just not enough talent or chemistry on this year’s SU squad. Read the Fizz’s “Anatomy of a Disaster” series.

Last year left Orange fans with hope after a 20-win campaign in Autry’s first season at the helm. But this year has been very different, and SU fans aren’t the only ones placing him on the hot seat. Recently a national publication placed him at the top of the hot seat list.

A losing record would have been tolerated by SU fans more than likely after a solid opening campaign. But this year the bottom has dropped out and according to one poll, the faith of the fan base has gone with it.
