Davion Crumitie took to Twitter on Thursday to announce he had received his first D1 offer from Syracuse. The wide receiver from Tallahassee is going into his junior season. He competes for Rickards High School and is listed at 5’11” 160 lbs. He clocks in at a 4.41 40-yard dash, a blazing time for a member of the track team.
We know that speed is a significant factor in Fran Brown’s recruiting plan. While Dino Babers’ patented “Orange is the new fast,” Brown’s team is actually living up to that. Crumitie also has an offer from FCS Sacramento State, the original school of breakout star Cam Skattebo. Crumitie also plays free safety on defense at Rickard.
He is one of the fastest high school athletes in the country, ranking at or near the top 10 in many events. His highlight reel from his sophomore season shows plenty of times he gets behind a defense. Crumitie is the type of wideout who can dig and go, clearly using his immense speed to leave corners flat footed at the line of scrimmage.
Brown is banking on an early relationship being a difference maker for Syracuse. SU is the first FBS school to offer Crumitie, even before the spring game heading into his junior season. He also led the team in interceptions from his free safety position. So the play-making continues on both sides of the ball for Crumitie and we’ll see if being first will pay off for the Orange.
