ACC Basketball: D
In case you needed any more confirmation that the ACC just isn’t a good basketball conference, all you’d have to do is watch today’s games. The level of play is just so low. Offenses just aren’t high level in this conference right now. Compared to the SEC or Big 12, it’s like watching a mid major conference. The speed and scoring just isn’t where the other elite conferences are right now. Kyle Cuffe is getting an absurd amount of minutes. Not to dog on anyone in particular but he wouldn’t play at all in another power conference tournament. Syracuse as a whole was playing absolutely horrible in the first half yet it was still a close game.
Eddie Lampkin in March: A?
Not many people have been a bigger Eddie Lampkin critic than me this season. I have gotten so frustrated with his lackluster athleticism. Lampkin talks more trash than anyone and makes so many mistakes that make you pull your hair out. In March though, that 1000% effort is fun to watch. The big body diving all over the floor is fun! He got into foul trouble very early and wasn’t able to play much but when he did, it was entertaining!
The issue is, Adrian Autry doesn’t use Lampkin the way that he should be. Or maybe its that Lampkin doesn’t listen. Either way, half of the big fellas touches come outside the arc. How can your big touch the ball outside the paint so much??? It makes no sense. He also scored just five points today. But the vibes are A worthy.
Syracuse’s Second Half Start: F
The start to the second half was absolutely atrocious for the Orange. It took Syracuse over five minutes to get its first bucket when Jyare Davis made a layup. As I said above, the offense was anemic his team had a ten-point lead in six straight second halves before giving up runs. Today, they didn’t have that lead and still gave up a run.
The way that the team played at the start of the second half continued throughout the rest of the game. The second half offense was some of the worst ball that this team played all season.
