Syracuse And Colorado Football Spring Game In The Works?

I know March Madness is in full swing (and all of our brackets are probably completely destroyed already,) but it’s never too early to start thinking about football. Spring practices for Fran Brown’s team kicked off this week, and we’re all waiting for the spring game that was announced for April 12th. But Fran Brown has never been one to do things simple, and this past week it showed when a crazy idea came up on social media.

It all started on Monday when Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders told ESPN that he wants to practice against and play another team for their annual spring game in late April. Coach Brown took to social media, and quote tweeted this report with “We will come to Boulder for 3 days.”

When this report came out, Twitter blew up. It’s such a cool idea that everyone would love to see, and it fits Fran Brown’s culture so much. Ever since becoming the head coach, Brown has shown to both the media and all the fans that he is not afraid of a challenge, and wants any opportunity to prove that Syracuse football belongs in the category of top programs. He’ll definitely get the chance to do that with the gauntlet of a schedule they have for the 2025 regular season, but why not head out to Boulder and see how your roster holds up against a top team in the Big 12?

As much of this sounds like a pipedream and just some fun social media banter, it’s progressing a lot faster than you think. The NCAA technically prohibits teams from playing each other before the regular season starts, but Fran Brown and Deion Sanders have reportedly put in paperwork to appeal this ruling and allow for an intrasquad scrimmage. We don’t know if or when this can be overturned, but if it does, it would add another layer of excitement for what is already an extremely anticipated sophomore season for Fran Brown and his crew.
