What a successful weekend it was for Syracuse football. For the first time since 2006, the Orange had four players get their names called on the NFL Draft stage in Green Bay. But it’s not only the guys who get drafted that can make an impact on an NFL roster. Let’s catch you up on all the Syracuse football players that received contract offers as undrafted free agents for 2025.
DB Clarence Lewis – Tennessee Titans
This is honestly one of the best case scenarios for one of Fran Brown’s best outside defenders last season. Tennessee had one of the best passing defenses in the NFL last season, and Lewis joins a talented cornerback room (if he makes the team.) The Notre Dame transfer held down the secondary for Syracuse in 2024 and was signed by the Titans for his versatility to play both the boundary and the slot.
DB Alijah Clark – Dallas Cowboys
The man they call “Cinco” had an outside shot of getting drafted, but it didn’t come to fruition. This made the veteran corner one of the most highly touted UDFAs, and the 21-year-old gets a shot with the Dallas Cowboys. Clark notched 61 tackles in 2024, as well as taking home the defensive MVP of the Holiday Bowl. Clark’s size at 6-foot-1, 187 pounds makes him a player to watch out for to crack the Dallas roster next season.
S/LB Justin Barron – Dallas Cowboys
The captain of Syracuse’s defense is also joining Clark down in Dallas. What makes Barron such an interesting prospect for teams to take a chance on is his versatility, with his ability to play both inside and outside of the box as a safety and linebacker. We’ve seen guys be extremely desired for this in the past, most notably Cardinals draft pick Isaiah Simmons in 2020 out of Clemson.
WR Jackson Meeks – Detroit Lions
Kyle McCord’s jumpball guy gets a new start with the Detroit Lions. Meeks thrived in the Orange’s vertical threat offense, and joins a team in the NFL that LOVES to chuck the ball downfield. Meeks’ size is extremely valuable to NFL teams, and this fit makes perfect sense for a guy like Jackson to succeed at the next level.
OT Savion Washington – Los Angeles Chargers
You can never have too much offensive line depth, and the Chargers took this into consideration by locking up Washington. The 6-foot-9, 340-pounder brings a lot of versatility to Los Angeles, considering he can also slide inside and play guard. Washington also joins Oronde Gadsden II, and they’re not the only two…
LB Marlowe Wax – Los Angeles Chargers
The heart and soul of Syracuse’s defense is also headed out west. The former All-ACC linebacker plays with a fire out on the field and joins a strong linebacker room under Jim Harbaugh. If you don’t have an NFL team but love Syracuse football, the Chargers might be the place for you to take your fandom…
So much talent all around from SU headed to the NFL just showcases the culture shift around this program. Fran Brown entered with the mentality of adding Syracuse back to the college football map, and it’s safe to say a performance like this does that.
