In early 2025, Syracuse Athletics launched the Champion ‘CUSE campaign, a comprehensive $50 million fundraising effort aimed at enhancing the student-athlete experience across all 20 NCAA Division I programs. Syracuse plans to fully utilize the maximum allowable revenue-sharing cap, estimated at $20.5 million, to benefit its athletes.

Recognizing the complexities of managing multiple NIL entities, Syracuse Athletics has announced plans to streamline its NIL initiatives. By July 1, 2025, the university intends to consolidate its existing NIL organizations—Orange United, SU Football NIL, and Athletes Who Care—into a more cohesive structure. This move aims to enhance efficiency, reduce redundancy, and ensure that resources are allocated effectively to support student-athletes across all sports.

The SU Football NIL organization, in particular, has been instrumental in facilitating partnerships between football players and local businesses. Through collaborations with entities like Apex Entertainment and 110 Grill, athletes have secured endorsement deals that provide financial support and increase their visibility within the community.

Financial Literacy and Community Engagement: Building a Sustainable Future

Syracuse’s commitment to its athletes extends beyond financial compensation. The university has partnered with Community Bank to offer financial literacy programs tailored to student-athletes. These sessions cover essential topics such as budgeting, investing, and long-term financial planning, equipping athletes with the knowledge to manage their earnings responsibly.

Additionally, local businesses have been encouraged to participate in the NIL ecosystem by providing sponsorships and creating opportunities for student-athletes to engage with the community.
