By the time the 2026 season rolls around, who knows how deep Syracuse football will be by then?
Three-star tight end Carter Bashir verbally committed to the Orange on Saturday, adding to Syracuse’s stacked 2026 recruiting class. Bashir, from Newmann Goretti High School in Philadelphia, took an official visit to Syracuse last weekend.
Bashir chose the Orange over notable ACC rivals in Boston College, Duke, Miami, and Virginia Tech. He also turned down offers from South Carolina and Temple.
The tight end is ranked 73rd overall in the country at his position by 247sports, and the 46th best prospect from Philadelphia.
Bashir’s verbal commitment pushes Syracuse’s 2026 recruiting class to 22 players, which ties the Orange for the fourth-most commits of any school with Rutgers, California, Minnesota and Arkansas.
Syracuse’s 2026 recruiting class is now ranked 29th overall, which should immediately contribute to head coach Fran Brown and his outspoken goal of winning a national championship with the Orange.
