Does Marvin Harrison Have A Case For College Football HOF?

As a kid growing up playing sports, you dream about many things. Winning championships, making millions, and being the best, just to name a few. But one accomplishment trumps all of that: making the Hall of Fame. For former Syracuse wide receiver Marvin Harrison, that dream has already been accomplished in the NFL. However, it could become a reality in 2026 for what he did as a member of the Orange.

The ballot for the 2026 National College Football Hall of Fame was released earlier today, and Harrison made the cut for the sixth straight year. He is joined by a LOADED class of talent, including Notre Dame LB Manti Te’o, Oklahoma State WR Dez Bryant, Florida WR Percy Harvin, Bama RB Mark Ingram, Auburn QB Cam Newton, and Indiana QB Antwaan Randle El.

If anyone needs a refresher, Harrison played with the Orange from 1992-1996, and was a demon. He tallied 135 total receptions for 2,728 yards and 20 touchdowns in his collegiate career and took home first-team All-American and Big East honors in 1995.

Is this finally the year Harrison gets the nod? I’m not so sure. Despite everything he did for Syracuse football and the status he carries inside the JMA Wireless Dome, his numbers in the grand scheme of things aren’t Hall of Fame worthy. Especially when you look at this class of candidates and what they did (someone like Cam Newton who won a Heisman and was the face of college football for a short period of time,) it’s hard to say Harrison competes. The voters for the College Football HOF almost have to take a step back and look at players without their name attached, because in theory, what they did at the next level shouldn’t play a factor.

The voting runs through July 1st and will be deliberated on by the committee throughout the summer. If Harrison were to be nominated, he would become the 20th member of the Orange to ever be enshrined in Atlanta, joining Dwight Freeney, who was inducted in 2023.
